Free Come & Try Sessions

Parents together with their children can experience some of the fun music activities featured in our early childhood music program at free Come and Try sessions for MusicPlay and MusicMakers. Each of these trial sessions will last 30 minutes, and are for interested new students and their parents. Regular weekly classes in MusicPlay and MusicMakers start the following week from 12 February. Enrolments are open now for these classes. Treble Makers Junior Choir

Free Come and Try Session


Wednesday 13 February 4pm


If you are 9 years or older and want to sing in a choir, then the Treble Makers is for you. Singing in a choir is the best way to develop good vocal skills and key music basics like rhythm and pitch, plus it’s fun! The Treble Makers rehearse on Wednesday afternoons 4pm-5pm in school terms and they would love to have more new members this year, so why not give it a go? Annual Concert Series 2013

Series of five concerts


Macquarie Conservatorium presents an exciting series of five concerts featuring outstanding performers from a range of musical genres. Classical pianist and best-selling author Anna Goldsworthy launches the season with an innovative departure from the traditional piano recital; rising stars The Streeton Trio play passionate and virtuosic chamber music for piano and strings; singers from award-winning opera company Stopera showcase the charm and comedy of operetta; folk festival headliners and international recording artists Carl Cleves and Parissa Bouas perform their unique repertoire of original songs; and madcap brass group The Sousaphonics bring their mix of  jazz, gypsy and samba music to a family–friendly concert that kids will love.  Details of individual concerts below. Anna Goldsworthy: Piano Lessons

CONCERT Friday 15 February 7.30pm


Renowned pianist and writer Anna Goldsworthy launches Macquarie Conservatorium’s annual concert series with a departure from the traditional piano recital. Since its release in 2009, Anna's childhood memoir Piano Lessons has become an Australian bestseller, and in this very special recital Anna performs the music of Piano Lessons alongside readings from her book. Anna is Artistic Director of the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, a founding member of the Seraphim Trio and records for the ABC Classics label. Her Piano Lessons concert features music by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, and Liszt.

Moorambilla Voices

FREE SINGING WORKSHOPS with Michelle Leonard

for primary students in years 3-6

Wednesday 13 March 4pm-5pm


An exciting opportunity for children to SING, COMPOSE, MOVE, CREATE, led by award-winning singer, conductor and inspirational artistic director of the Moorambilla Festival, MICHELLE LEONARD. No previous singing experience is necessary to benefit from this free workshop – this is an educational and cultural activity that will get every student energised, thinking and SINGING! From this workshop, some students with interest and potential may be offered a place in Moorambilla Voices Regional Children’s Choir, performing at the Moorambilla Festival held in Coonamble in September. Violin Masterclass

with Emma Jardine of The Streeton Trio


Friday 22 March 4.30pm


Violinists, string students, teachers and music lovers are all welcome to attend this masterclass. Emma Jardine has performed as recitalist and chamber musician across Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Asia and Australia. Born in Australia, Emma has played for several years with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and also as soloist with the Camerata Menuhin. She has been engaged as Guest Principal with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and also performed with the Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras. The masterclass is open to everyone as audience/observers. Student violinists wishing to participate actively as performers in this master class  should download and return the booking form.

The Streeton Trio

CONCERT Friday 22 March 7.30pm


Formed in 2008 in Switzerland, the Streeton Trio is the first Australian ensemble to be selected for the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy. Winner of the 2011 Music Viva Chamber Music Competition, the Streeton Trio has performed at Wigmore Hall London, Melbourne Recital Centre, Pablo Casals Festival in Spain and the Bangalow Festival. The trio’s debut CD, released in 2011, received rave reviews in Australia and Europe. Their concert program includes piano trios by Haydn, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Kats-Chernin. The cellist on this tour will be Julian Smiles.
