Zoo Tunes

Free Family Concert at the Zoo

Sunday 3 November 5pm


Come along to a fun-filled family concert featuring animal-themed music performed by local choirs and bands. The program includes well known tunes like Talk to the Animals, Theme from Jurassic Park, Carnival of the Animals, as well as the premiere performance of a specially commissioned song about the Zoo by renowned composer Paul Jarman, special guest artist for this event. Performers include Dubbo District Concert Band, Macquarie Conservatorium’s Harmony Singers, Dubbo College Combined Band, and a youth choir of students from schools in and around Dubbo. Enjoy an entertaining program of music that will appeal to kids and adults alike, under the trees near the Zoo’s Visitor Information Centre. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, or bring your own picnic. Please note: No BYO alcohol.

Annual Awards Concert

A concert showcasing performances by students of the Macquarie Conservatorium, presentation of awards and the announcement of scholarship winners for 2014. Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert.

Parents with young children can experience some of the fun music activities featured in Macquarie Conservatorium’s early childhood music program, at free Come and Try sessions this December for MusicPlay and MusicMakers. Each of these trial sessions will last 30 minutes, and are open to interested new students and their parents who may like to enrol in classes for 2014.

Macquarie Conservatorium’s early childhood music classes are designed to give children a positive first experience of music in a fun, relaxed and stimulating environment, and create a good basis for further development of music and other learning skills. MusicPlay classes are for pre-schoolers and their parents, and MusicMakers class is for children aged 5-6yrs attending school or home-schooled.


Regular weekly classes in MusicPlay and MusicMakers start from February 2014 at the Conservatorium . Enrolments are opening now for these classes. For more about this program, including the timetable of classes and fees, email

The Year in Song

Harmony Singers and Treble Makers

Sunday 8 December 4pm



Join Macquarie Conservatorium’s two choirs in an end of year celebration featuring beautiful choral music conducted by Lindy Blekemore, with accompanist Di Pascoe. The concert will be a glimpse of the repertoire that both choirs have been singing throughout the year, as well as new songs. Enjoy a wide range of musical styles and eras in this relaxed concert.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert.
