Regional Youth Orchestra NSW

with Moorambilla Voices

Talented young musicians from Regional Conservatoriums across NSW perform classical favourites and hits from the movies at this FREE outdoor concert, the closing event of ARTLANDS, Regional Arts Australia’s national conference and festival. Special guest appearance by award-winning regional youth choir, Moorambilla Voices. Bring a picnic and enjoy the music!

Regional Youth Orchestra NSW (RYO NSW) showcases the musical talent of regional youth from the seventeen Regional Conservatoriums based in country towns across the state. These young musicians have performed at the Sydney Opera House and have been mentored by world-class conductors and players from the Australian World Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. RYO NSW is an initiative of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums and is hosted in Dubbo by Macquarie Conservatorium.


The Moorambilla Voices program provides regional youth with the opportunity to experience inspiring music-making with some of Australia’s finest composers and musicians. This award-winning program engages over 300 children during the year from all over north west NSW.


This free outdoor concert in Dubbo’s beautiful Victoria Park features classical favourites, themes from the movies and iconic music by Australian composers.

Simon Tedeschi is one of Australia’s most renowned and sought-after pianists and has performed for world leaders such as Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama, and in major concert halls throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. In this concert, Simon Tedeschi gives a thrilling performance of one of the greatest works in piano literature, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Celebrating his critically acclaimed recording for ABC Classics, Tedeschi brings his own magic to this iconic Russian masterwork, a musical picture of various artworks in an exhibition, including the famous Great Gate of Kiev and Baba Yaga. The Russian theme continues with virtuosic and romantic works by Prokoviev and Rachmaninov.

A concert showcasing performances by students of the Macquarie Conservatorium, presentation of awards and the announcement of scholarship winners for 2017. Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert. Everyone welcome – come along, enjoy the music and support our talented students!

A lawfully good Christmas musical for children! Come along  and enjoy this fun twist on the original Christmas story. In a court room in Bethlehem, Judge Grump is far from happy with the complaining cows and a denying donkey. Call the witnesses and find out what really happened in that crowded stable! As Judge Grump encounters quarreling innkeepers, self-important wise men, cool shepherds, some dancing sheep and a spectacular angel choir, everything starts to become clear and the story of Christmas unfolds…...
The young performers aged 7 to 12 years from our Youth Music Theatre Workshop are directed by Camilla Ward with musical direction by Raelene Burn. Ideal Christmas fun for families!

End of Year Concert

Macquarie Conservatorium students and staff celebrate the end of another musical year in an entertaining program of duos, trios and ensembles showcasing all our instruments areas. Members are invited to bring along a plate of food to share for a fun get-together afterwards; drinks provided.
