Dawn Walsh



Dawn Walsh has enjoyed a distinguished career as a Soprano. Having commenced her vocal studies at the age of 16, she studied voice with Maxwell Speed and Megan Evans in Sydney and in 1968 joined Australian Opera (now known as Opera Australia).


Between 1968-2005, Dawn spent 2.5 years studying singing technique in Trier, Germany with leading American Baritone, Michael Rhodes.


After almost 40 years as a cast member of Opera Australia, during which time she covered major roles including Norma for Dame Joan Sutherland and Madame Butterfly for Leonie Mitchell, Dawn retired from Opera Australia in August 2005. She now enjoys an active teaching studio at the Macquarie Conservatorium.
