Nicholas Evans completed his Bachelor of Music in clarinet performance at Queensland Conservatorium under the tutelage of Paul Dean. Nick received a scholarship to study Post Graduate Performance at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, Nick studied at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne under the guidance of David Thomas.


Nick participated in Australian Youth Orchestra programs from 2007-2011, including international tour with AYO in 2010, and principal clarinet for AYO in 2011. He has played clarinet in a number of professional symphony orchestras, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, MSO Chamber Players, Southern Cross Soloists, Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Australian Air Force Band. He has performed solo concertos with Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Sinfonia, Queensland Youth Symphony, Tasmanian Youth Orchestra and UTAS Chamber Orchestra.


Nick has worked at a number of schools in Melbourne including the Caroline Chisholm Catholic College and Brighton Grammar School teaching clarinet, saxophone and flute. In 2013, Nick was clarinet tutor at the Sunwater and Stanwell Winter Music School in Rockhampton. He was the woodwind tutor for the inaugural Regional Youth Orchestra camp in 2016. Nick is now a keen participant in the musical life of Dubbo where he teaches at the Macquarie Conservatorium and plays in the Dubbo District Concert Band and the Mighty Big Band.
