Cathy Crossing began her musical journey at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School and has extensive orchestral and ensemble performance and recording experience in many genres. Having studied with leading Australian clarinettist Alan Vivian, Cathy continued her studies with some of the world’s greatest clarinettists including Andrew Marriner (London Symphony Orchestra) and Fabio di Casola (Winterthur Musikkollegium, Switzerland).

As a performer, Cathy toured Europe and Latin America, presenting concerts in venues such as London's St Martin-in-the-Fields and Royal Military College of Music, Versailles Conservatoire, and Belgium's Namur Theatre, as well as appearing at Latin music festivals in Cuba and Chile. In Australia, Cathy was a regular performer at the Sydney Opera House and Entertainment Centre, presented recitals at the Great Hall of Parliament House and opened Stephane Grapelli's final concert in Canberra with her quartet.

Her success as an educator led to a position as Woodwind Examiner for the AMEB and Guest Lecturer at London’s Hindhead Clarinet Summer School, Benny More Escuela de Arte and Jose White Conservatorio in Cuba. Cathy also held Head of Performing Arts positions at international schools in China, Mexico and Kazakhstan.

Cathy is currently teaching music at St Johns College Dubbo and joined the Macquarie Conservatorium in 2022.
